Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was a Philadelphia native is a native of Philadelphia, and was raised in the city. Pam her mother was a former backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. In the year she turned 5 older, her father was offered job as curator for the city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family was able to move into the historic landmark. She graduated in 2005 of Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in which she was the vocal music instructor. Sullivan began singing as a contralto in the kids' choir, and then a few years later in the adult group. Sullivan was not exposed to secular music at the beginning. "When when I was 11 and a half, someone asked me to join the gospel recording. I wasn't going to take that step," she says. In the following year, McDonald's held a contest that was open to children living in cities. I was selected to sing "Accept what God allows" during The show Showtime at the Apollo. And the audience was very supportive. Stevie Wonder sang her part at her grandson's 13th birthday. Sullivan aged 15 began her career with Jive Records. She recorded the entire album but the album never came out. Sullivan was then removed from the label. There was a close relationship with Missy Elliott who wrote and recorded many of the tracks in her debut album like the smash single "Backstabbers" which was produced by Timbaland and composed by Elliott.
