Katja Herbers is the daughter of violinist Vera Beths and oboist Werner Herbers. As a child she travelled to America along with her mother in the L'Archibudelli chamber ensemble toured. She met the theatre when her father, Leonie Poliak, and the cellist Annerbylsma remarried. Her childhood was filled with an au pair from Canada, and could learn Dutch German and English.
